The Getting Home Street Outreach Team is a City of Wilmington and New Hanover County initiative that provides resources in mental health, substance use disorders, employment, housing, medical, and dental care, among other needs.  The street team is a team of four social workers including TR Nunley, our supervisor, Katelyn Mattox and our police partners.  Our target population is people who are experiencing homelessness.  The ultimate goal would be get the person "Home" however there are many steps along the way to housing for a person who is experiencing homelessness.   If you are experiencing homeless or if you know someone who is, please reach out to us at 910-742-8210 or email us at Streetoutreach@nhcgov.com.

Our team has entered "The Amazing Race" Food Drive competition to stock the New Hanover County Food Pantry.  We are focusing on peanut butter, but obviously we will accept any food drive items until June 21st.  The Food Pantry is located on the 2nd Floor of New Hanover County Health and Human Services at 1650 Greenfield Street, Wilmington, NC.  The food pantry is stocked by the employees of New Hanover County and anyone who is experiencing food insecurity can shop there for free.  Each customer can shop at the pantry for their household; they can get 5 items per household member.   If you are experiencing food insecurity, please reach out to New Hanover County Health and Human services to see if you are qualified for Food and Nutrition Services.  Stop by to apply at 1650 Greenfield Street or call customer service at   910-798-3500 Ex 4.
